    Letter in Oppostion to XXXX

    Dear City Council Person:

It has come to our attention that Hi Adam and Adam,
As always, I enjoy meeting with the both of you.  During the meeting, there were five outstanding questions that I am following up with relative to the proposed revisions to the Design Review Committee (DRC) responsibilities. Provided below are the explanations/clarifications:

    1.     DRC review of landscaping.
    ·       The automatic review of landscaping by the DRC has been eliminated; however, for Old Towne projects, if landscaping is integral to the “design” of the proposed project, the DRC will review the landscaping.  Landscaping will still be reviewed by the Director and/or staff as part of general project design and site plan review.
    ·       The purpose of this restriction is to avoid opening an entire property to DRC review when the project may only involve an isolated part of the property, of which landscaping design is not a part.

Residential projects don't require landscape design now. DRC only gets involved if one or two big trees will be cut down (tree ordinance). Commercial projects do require landscape design. Who makes the decision? BTW, DRC rarely agreed with staff on landscape design.

For instance, Chapman's Science & Tech building...if there were no landscape requirements, this would be semi-hideous building. The landscaping makes that building palatable and even nice.

     Sincerely,
Submit
